Gran Fondo Asheville 2026
Century ride through Blue Ridge mountain roads in Asheville, NC. Three timed route options from downtown Asheville to ridge-line vistas and back.
The vibe
Blue Ridge ridgelines, downtown finish
You start at Asheville Yards Amphitheater in the middle of downtown and roll out into a completely different world within minutes. The Gran route covers 100 miles of serpentine mountain roads — winding through pastoral countryside, climbing to Blue Ridge Parkway ridge-line vistas, then descending back into town. It’s the kind of terrain that makes you forget you’re tired until you stop. The Medio (60 miles) and Piccolo (30 miles) options serve the same scenery at a more approachable scale.
This is a timed-segment event, which changes the whole dynamic. Your start-to-finish time doesn’t matter — only your splits on the four designated timed climbs and segments count toward placement. That format makes it genuinely competitive for racers while keeping it festive for everyone else. Three or more aid stations keep you fueled along the way, and professional photographers are stationed at multiple points on course so you’ll have something to show for the effort.
Post-ride, the Applewood Manor Foundation hosts VIP experiences including cookouts and dinners. For everyone else, downtown Asheville is an excellent place to be after 100 miles in the mountains — good food, good beer, and no shortage of people who just did what you did.
