CapTex Cruisers is Austin’s home for BMX bikes, strandies, klunkers, and one-speed cruisers — bikes that prioritize style and fun over efficiency and performance metrics. The club rolls every first and third Sunday from Ramsey Park at 10 AM, and the energy is firmly in the camp of people who chose their bike because it looks great rather than because of its weight-to-stiffness ratio.
The format is relaxed by design. Cruiser bike rides don’t benefit from pace groups and aggressive route selection — they benefit from leisurely speed, good conversation, and neighborhoods worth looking at. Austin has plenty of the latter, and CapTex Cruisers routes through neighborhoods that reward slow riding.
