The vibe

Give your legs to someone's first ride

Lend Your Legs is genuinely one of the more meaningful things you can do on a bike in Austin. Social Cycling Austin partners with the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired to bring tandem bikes to students who otherwise don’t have regular access to cycling. Volunteer cyclists arrive at 6:00 PM to help unload and set up, with the ride departing at 6:30. You’re literally lending your legs — as the pilot on the tandem, you’re the engine that gives a student the experience of moving through the city by bike.

The experience is described as something most people take for granted, which is exactly why it matters. For students who can’t pilot a solo bike independently, the tandem ride provides freedom and exhilaration that’s otherwise inaccessible. The Social Cycling Austin community brings that access, consistently, every Monday.

Show up at the TSBVI campus at 6:00 PM. No special tandem experience is required — the setup is handled by the organizers, and guidance is available. Check socialcyclingaustin.bike for the current schedule and any updates on the program.
