Multi-level group rides across the SF Bay Area, from beginner 5-mile spins to advanced 80-mile sportives. Helmets required, free to join, 5,000+ members.
The vibe
Something for every speed
With over 5,000 members, Bay Area Cycling Meetup is one of the larger cycling communities in the region — and the range of rides reflects that scale. Beginner rides cover 5-15 miles at a pace where you can hold a conversation; advanced outings push to 80-mile sportives with serious climbing. Helmets are required, the group is free to join, and there are typically multiple events per week across different parts of the Bay Area.
The format is Meetup-based, which means each event has an organizer, a listed meeting point, and a description of the ride’s pace and difficulty. That structure makes it easier to self-select into something that fits where you are — you’re not showing up blind to a pace you can’t hold.
If you’re newer to Bay Area cycling or new to the area entirely, this is a practical starting point: large enough community that there’s almost always something happening, structured enough that you can find your level.
