Bay Area Road Biking – Sunnyvale/Los Altos
Sunnyvale and Los Altos road cycling group with weekday 20-mile Peninsula rides and Saturday 40-60 mile routes at a steady 13-18 mph pace, Bay Area.
The vibe
Peninsula miles, steady pace
With over 1,400 members, this group has become one of the Peninsula’s go-to road cycling crews. Weekday evening rides meet at Dreager’s in downtown Los Altos for a steady 20-mile loop through Los Altos, Portola Valley, Palo Alto, and up toward Cupertino and Mt. Eden — nothing that wrecks you before work the next day.
Saturdays are the bigger test: 40-60 miles with 2,500-5,000 feet of climbing, meeting at 8:30 AM (sometimes from Sports Basement Campbell instead). Pace runs 13-18 mph on the flats, geared toward intermediate-to-advanced riders who want consistent group miles without racing dynamics.
Organizer Linda Romano and a rotating cast of ride leaders keep the schedule active year-round, so there’s almost always a ride to jump into.
