Bayview Black History Month Bike Ride

Every February, a crowd of 150-200 riders rolls out from the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial for a community ride tracing significant Black history sites across San Francisco, finishing up on 3rd Street in the Bayview. It’s a slow, deliberate ride — the point is the stops along the way, not the pace.

The route passes landmarks including the Ruth Williams Bayview Opera House, and the ride wraps with a stretch of 3rd Street supporting local Black-owned businesses in the neighborhood. Organized jointly by Livable City and the SF Bicycle Coalition, it’s open to riders of all levels — this is a ride for showing up and paying attention, not for pushing watts.

Rides typically run late morning into early afternoon, wrapping by 1:00-1:30 PM. Check sfbike.org closer to February for the exact date and any route updates.
