The vibe

High-altitude club road adventure

The stretch between Basalt and Aspen is among the most spectacular road cycling terrain in Colorado — Roaring Fork Valley roads, the climb to Independence Pass, and the kind of mountain scenery that makes you understand why people move to this part of the state. Boulder Cycling Club’s annual summer trip runs here each June, giving members a structured way to experience it as a group rather than figuring out the logistics solo.

June 25-28, 2026 are the dates for this year’s trip. Costs and logistics are coordinated through the club, which handles the organizational side and leaves riders free to focus on the riding. The group brings together BCC members across ability levels for multi-day routes through some of the Roaring Fork Valley’s best roads.

Contact Boulder Cycling Club through bouldercc.org for registration details and pricing. These club trips fill up — members who’ve done them before tend to return, so spots go to those who register early. A road bike with appropriate gearing for high-altitude passes is recommended; the passes around Aspen are not casual climbs.
