The vibe

Big sky, mountain gravel

The Belgian Waffle Ride keeps expanding, and Montana makes sense as a destination — Bozeman has become one of the fastest-growing cycling cities in the West, with terrain that ranges from valley gravel roads to proper mountain climbs. The BWR Montana edition brings the series’ signature mixed-surface format to this backdrop, routing riders through the mountain landscapes surrounding Bozeman in the same Belgian classics spirit that defines every BWR edition.

Bozeman in June is exceptional: long daylight, manageable temperatures, and the mountains still snow-capped in the distance. The local cycling community is strong and welcoming, and the town’s amenities — gear shops, restaurants, craft brewing — are genuinely good for a city of its size. BWR events typically sell out quickly when registration opens, so mark your calendar.

This is a new venue for the series, which means course details and exact distances may evolve before race day. Follow BWR’s official channels for updates as the event approaches. General BWR preparation applies: a gravel or all-road bike setup, the ability to ride both pavement and dirt for extended periods, and the endurance to handle a long June day in Montana’s altitude.
