Big Marsh used to be a dumping ground for slag from the steel mills that once lined Chicago’s Calumet region. Now it’s a 278-acre park built for exactly this kind of racing — a ChiCrossCup round that winds through sand pits, tight singletrack, and berms carved into what used to be industrial wasteland.
xXx Racing runs the show, and the venue’s reclaimed-land character makes it one of the more distinctive stops on the circuit. Categories run for everyone from first-timers to elite racers, with the South Side setting giving it a grittier feel than the series’ suburban venues.
