Bike Play: A Bikesmith's Tale
Half original medieval theater, half Portland bike ride. Costumed storytelling and cycling through NE Portland. June 18–20, 2026 at Oregon Park.
The vibe
Medieval drama on two wheels
Pedalpalooza produces some genuinely singular events, and Bike Play: A Bikesmith’s Tale is one of them. Half original theatrical performance, half moving group bike ride, this is a production that follows medieval characters through the streets of NE Portland — you’re not watching from a seat, you’re riding alongside the story.
Period-inspired costumes are encouraged but not required. The show runs three nights (June 18–20) starting at Oregon Park on NE Oregon and 30th Avenue, with the 6:30 PM gathering leading into a performance that unfolds on the move. It’s a genuinely strange and wonderful mashup of storytelling formats that only works in Portland, during Pedalpalooza, on a bike.
Free to attend, with donations appreciated. Contact bikeplay.pdx@gmail.com if you have questions or want to get involved. Bring a light, dress for the era if you’re feeling it, and prepare for the most narrative group ride you’ve ever been on.
