Bike Summer 2026 Kickoff Ride
Official kickoff for Portland's three-month Bike Summer festival — costumes, decorations, merch, and a family-friendly cruise from Alberta Park.
The vibe
Costumes, cruisers — summer starts now
Portland’s Bike Summer is a three-month cycling festival running June through August, and the Kickoff Ride is how it all begins. The June 1st launch ride rolls from Alberta Park with the full ceremony: bikes decorated, riders in costume, merch available, and a family-friendly pace that brings everyone in together. It’s less of a race and more of a declaration — summer is here, the bikes are out, and Portland is doing what Portland does.
Bike Summer is organized through the same community that produces Pedalpalooza, which means the infrastructure is solid and the energy is genuine. The kickoff ride sets the tone for everything that follows — weeks of themed rides, night rides, social rides, and themed events that make Portland’s cycling culture what it is.
Alberta Park is a natural gathering point for North and Northeast Portland’s cycling community. Show up anytime after 6 PM to gather, decorate bikes, and meet people before the 6:30 PM departure. No registration required, all ages welcome, and yes — costumes are strongly encouraged.
