Bike the Bay! Road Rides
Bay Area road rides from flat social brunches to 20-60 mile moderate challenges at 14-18 mph. No-drop policy with wait points at hills and major intersections.
The vibe
Explore the Bay on two wheels
Bike the Bay! covers the spectrum between a casual brunch cruise and a real workout, often in the same ride. Events range from flat, social outings with a food or drink destination to moderately challenging 20–60 mile routes with meaningful elevation. The 14–18 mph pace on flats is quick enough to feel athletic without requiring race-level fitness.
The no-drop policy is structured rather than vague — the group waits at specific predetermined points (tops of hills, major intersections) rather than trying to hold a perfectly uniform pace throughout. This works better than most no-drop implementations and means the ride actually stays together without slowing the strong riders to a crawl.
Free to join, check the Meetup page for current schedule and routes. Riders should be self-sufficient for basic mechanicals like flat tires — the group can help, but you shouldn’t depend on it.
