Breck Epic
Six-day mountain bike stage race through Breckenridge's high-alpine backcountry, stringing together technical singletrack across the Tenmile Range.
The vibe
Six days, one alpine backcountry grind
Breck Epic asks riders to do something most mountain bike races don’t: come back and do it again the next morning, for six days straight. Each stage strings together Breckenridge’s backcountry singletrack — the kind of high-alpine trail that’s hard enough to ride once, let alone on tired legs day three or four.
The field skews toward riders who’ve done their homework on altitude and technical descending, but the stage-race format means you’re not racing everyone else so much as managing your own week. Camps and support are built around the daily rhythm, so there’s a real sense of community forming over six days that a single-day race doesn’t give you.
If you’re eyeing this one, plan your acclimatization ahead of time — Breckenridge sits above 9,600 feet, and the surrounding terrain climbs from there. This isn’t a race to show up for cold.
