719 KOM Challenge 2026
Road cycling event through Colorado Springs with two timed KOM segments. Part of the Gran Fondo National Series and Rocky Mountain State Games, July 2026.
The vibe
KOM hunting at elevation
Colorado Springs has no shortage of iconic cycling terrain — the roads around Pikes Peak, Cheyenne Canyon, and the Garden of the Gods have been making riders suffer for decades. The 719 KOM Challenge brings that setting into the Gran Fondo National Series format: a road loop through the city with two timed King of the Mountain segments where your effort is measured and ranked. Combined segment times determine placement, so it’s competitive without being a full race.
The 2026 edition runs as part of the Rocky Mountain State Games, which adds a broader athletic festival atmosphere to the day. Start, finish, and festival are all in downtown Colorado Springs. A 10K trail run runs concurrently, making it a good excuse to bring non-cyclists along. Commemorative jerseys are available for riders who want something to remember the effort by.
At over 6,000 feet of base elevation and surrounded by fourteeners, Colorado Springs is serious cycling country. If you’re based in the Springs or looking for a competitive reason to visit, the 719 is a well-structured event on roads that deserve more attention than they typically get.
