DBTC Fun Plus H3 – Mountain Road Rides
Denver Bicycle Touring Club's harder Fun Plus rides tackle serious foothills climbs — routes like Bear Creek to Evergreen with 2,800+ ft of gain in 34 miles.
The vibe
Earn those mountain views
DBTC’s H3-rated Fun Plus rides are for when you want to actually suffer a little. These routes push into the Front Range foothills with real elevation gain — a typical example runs 34 miles from Rooney Road and Morrison Road through Bear Creek Canyon to Evergreen, then back roads to Bergen Park, returning via Kerr Gulch with 2,880 feet of climbing. The roads are scenic, the grades are genuine, and the company is still friendly.
The format stays true to DBTC’s social core — this isn’t a race, it’s a supported group ride that happens to include mountain roads. The group rides together and the pace is measured by the terrain, not by who’s feeling aggressive that day. Expect 3–4 hours for a full H3 outing.
Thursdays are the typical day for harder routes. Check the DBTC calendar for upcoming listings, and come prepared with nutrition for the extended climbs. These are the rides that make you feel the foothills belong to you.
