The vibe

Friendly loops through the foothills

DBTC’s northwest Fun Plus rides are a step up from the flat trail rides — you’ll earn some views. Routes roll through Arvada, Golden, Wheat Ridge, and the Clear Creek corridor, covering 21–30 miles with 850–1,900 feet of elevation gain at an H2–H3 pace. The foothills show up fast out here, and the scenery makes the effort worthwhile.

Leaders Merri Bruntz and Jeff Krinsky keep the group cohesive while maintaining forward momentum. Bring a sack lunch — post-ride picnics are a regular feature of this series, often at a park or trailhead with a mountain backdrop. Most meetups launch from Anderson Park (44th & Field) or Prospect Park (44th & Robb) in Arvada.

Like all DBTC rides, membership is required after your first guest outing ($35/year individual). Register by text with the leader before riding. The northwest circuit is a reliable entry point for cyclists who’ve graduated from flat trail rides and want to start mixing in real terrain without committing to a full mountain route.
