The southwest corner of Denver’s trail network is where things get interesting. DBTC’s Fun Plus rides out this way hit Deer Creek Canyon, Chatfield State Park, Bear Creek Trail, the South Platte corridor, and the Littleton/Englewood areas — H2–H3 terrain covering 18–36 miles with some legitimate climbing woven in.
Frequent coffee shop stops are part of the deal out here, not just an afterthought. Leaders Merri Bruntz, Patty Gaspar, Peter Woulfe, Lauren Delle, and Susan Larson build them into the route. Some rides organize through Meetup with capacity limits, so sign up early. Most meetups launch from Reynolds Landing, Granny Scott’s Pond, or the Wheat Ridge Cyclery area.
Membership ($35/year individual) is required after your first guest ride. Register by text before each outing. The southwest circuit draws riders who want genuine terrain variety without the commitment of a full mountain ride — Deer Creek in particular delivers a canyon feel without needing to drive far from the city.
