The vibe

Easy-going city trail cruising

The Denver Bicycle Touring Club’s Fun rides in northeast Denver are the club’s most approachable offering — flat, friendly, and built for cyclists who want company more than competition. Routes wind through the Cherry Creek Trail, Sand Creek, Westerly Creek, and the Rocky Mountain Arsenal trails, covering 20–32 miles at an H1 pace (roughly 12–14 mph). Small group caps of around 10 riders keep things personal, and leaders like Cyndy Klepinger make sure no one gets left behind.

Practically speaking: DBTC rides require membership after your first guest outing ($35/year individual). Register by text with the ride leader before each outing — spots fill fast. Bring a trail-ready bike, helmet, and layers. Post-ride snacks often appear, courtesy of whoever remembered to pack extra.

The northeast circuit is especially good for newer club members who want to learn Denver’s trail network without tackling significant elevation. Think of it as a rolling orientation to the city by bike.
