If the Fun Plus rides leave you wanting more, DBTC’s intermediate series delivers. These rides target Red Rocks, Golden, Lookout Mountain, and Vail Pass — serious terrain at H3–H4 difficulty, with 1,900 to 3,000 feet of climbing packed into 21–31 miles. This is where DBTC members who’ve been building their base come to test themselves.
Leaders Donald Schmertz, Marilyn Choske, and Jeff Krinsky set an intermediate regroup pace — harder than casual, but not a drop ride. The group stays cohesive even when the grades get steep. Cancels in rain or wet roads; call the leader before making the drive. Registration by text is required the day before each ride. Crown Hill Park at 26th and Garland Street in Wheat Ridge is the standard launching point.
Membership ($35/year individual) required after one guest ride. These intermediate routes are the natural next step for DBTC regulars who’ve been doing the Fun Plus circuit and are ready for sustained climbing with a group that will push them without abandoning them on the hill.
