Denver to Aspen 2026
RMCC's single-day ride from Denver's western suburbs to Aspen via three mountain passes — Loveland, Fremont, and Independence — returning July 25, 2026.
The vibe
Three passes, one very long day
After a few years off, Rocky Mountain Cycling Club is bringing back Denver to Aspen — and the route earns every bit of its reputation. Starting from the western edge of the Denver metro, you’ll cross Loveland Pass, Fremont Pass, and Independence Pass in a single day to finish in Aspen. That’s not a thing most people do, which is exactly the point.
This one is for riders who’ve been looking for a reason to stop talking about a big mountain day and actually do one. The climb over Independence Pass alone is worth the trip — it’s one of the highest paved roads in North America and the kind of descent you’ll be describing to people for a while. The full route demands genuine preparation: you’ll want legs that have seen serious climbing and a nutrition plan that goes the distance.
RMCC membership is required to register, so if you’ve been on the fence about joining the club, this might be the thing that tips it. Full details and registration are available through the club’s website for members.
