Fems & Thems built a space in Denver for female and nonbinary riders who wanted a group ride without the pressure to keep up with a fast pack. Since 2022 they’ve been meeting at Cheesman Park Pavilion for 10-20 mile loops around the city, with a built-in break to rehydrate, snack, and regroup.
The pace hovers around 10 mph, so it’s genuinely welcoming to riders who are newer to group rides or just want to socialize more than sprint. Expect a mixed bag of bikes — commuters, hybrids, the occasional road bike — and a crowd that’s there for the company as much as the miles.
Dates aren’t locked into a fixed calendar; the group posts specifics on Instagram (@fems_themsdenverbiking) ahead of each ride, and they’ve branched into overnight bikepacking trips for members who want to go further. Show up once and you’ll get a feel for whether it’s your kind of ride.
