The vibe

OG Boulder tradition

Happy Thursday Cruiser Ride has been rolling through Boulder since 1992, making it one of the oldest continuously running cruiser rides in the state. Every Thursday evening, riders gather at Greenleaf Park for a casual cruise through Boulder’s streets, carrying on a tradition that predates most of the city’s current craft breweries by decades. If cruiser rides have a hall of fame, this one’s a charter member.

The ride embodies Boulder’s unique blend of outdoor culture and community spirit. The pace is relaxed, the crowd is eclectic, and the route takes you through some of the most beautiful urban cycling terrain in Colorado. You’ll ride past the Flatirons, through quiet neighborhoods, and along Boulder Creek — all at a speed that lets you actually appreciate the scenery. Costumes and decorated bikes are part of the culture but never mandatory.

For newcomers, just show up at Greenleaf Park around 6:45 PM on a Thursday and look for the crowd of bikes. The ride is welcoming to all comers, whether you’re a lifelong Boulder resident or visiting for the week. Bring lights for the return trip and maybe a jacket since Boulder evenings can cool down quickly. This ride has survived three decades for a reason — it’s just that good.
