Ice Cream Bike Bus

The third annual Ice Cream Bike Bus runs its school-route through SE Portland to 50 Licks on Clinton Street, where every kid in the group gets a free scoop of ice cream. Adults donate whatever they can. It’s one of the purest expressions of what a bike bus can be — not just a safer way to get to school, but a reason to celebrate the end of the school day on two wheels.

Bike Bus PDX organizes rolling school pick-ups through Southeast Portland, building a procession of kids and adults as it moves through the neighborhood. By the time the group reaches 50 Licks, it’s a genuine celebration of the fact that getting to places by bike is better than getting to places by car, especially when ice cream is involved.

Check bikebuspdx.org for the exact route and pick-up times — the bus stops at multiple SE Portland schools before the final destination, so join wherever is most convenient. All bikes welcome, cargo bikes and trailers especially appreciated. This is a Pedalpalooza event and part of Bike Summer’s community programming.
