The vibe
Quintessential Sonoma weekend epic
The Medio is the Goldilocks distance at Levi’s GranFondo — 68 miles of Sonoma wine country at a length that’s challenging enough to feel like an accomplishment without demanding the full-day commitment of the longer routes. Two notable climbs break up the rolling tarmac, keeping things interesting while vineyards and small wine country towns keep the scenery exceptional for the entire ride.
Three aid stations at miles 20, 37, and 53 mean you’re never far from support, food, and the chance to refill everything before the next stretch. The course shares road with the longer routes for significant portions, so you’ll be riding in good company throughout. Fields are competitive but the gran fondo format welcomes riders across ability levels.
Levi’s GranFondo moved its start/finish to Windsor for recent editions, and the event infrastructure has followed — parking, staging, and the finish-line celebration are all well-organized. April in Sonoma County is peak cycling season: warm days, manageable crowds before peak wine tourism, and wildflowers through the valley. Book accommodation well in advance; the region fills up for the event weekend.
