Major Taylor Meetup — Black Bike Week
Wednesday during Minneapolis Black Bike Week, the Major Taylor Bicycling Club hosts a group ride meetup celebrating Black cycling history and community.
The vibe
History rides with you, Wednesday
Founded in 1999, Major Taylor Bicycling Club of Minnesota is the state’s premier African-American cycling club — and during Minneapolis’s Black Bike Week, they host a Wednesday evening meetup ride that’s equal parts group ride and history lesson, honoring Major Taylor alongside other Black cycling pioneers like Kittie Knox and the Buffalo Soldiers.
Like the rest of Black Bike Week’s programming, it’s fully supported with a ride marshal and sweep, no-drop, and free or low-cost to join — built so nobody gets left behind and nobody has to already be fast to show up.
Part of “Eight Days of Movement, Memory & Freedom,” Black Bike Week’s citywide slate of rides each August.
