The vibe

Strong legs, open roads Saturday

Saturday mornings the Major Taylor Bicycling Club gathers in south Minneapolis for one of the Twin Cities’ most consistent fast group rides. The route follows the Midtown Greenway and surrounding streets — roughly 35 miles at 18–20 mph. Two rides per week during the season means regulars can choose between Wednesday and Saturday based on their schedule, and the Saturday version draws a good crowd looking to put in quality morning miles.

The club is named after Marshall “Major” Taylor, the first Black world cycling champion in 1899, and has spent more than 25 years making fast road riding more accessible and welcoming in Minneapolis. The Saturday morning ride reflects that — a genuinely fast group that’s also genuinely open.

Helmets required. Non-members sign a waiver before their first ride. Check the club website for the current season schedule and any cancellations.
