Major Taylor Bicycling Club — Wednesday Night Ride
Summer Wednesday evening road rides averaging 18-20 mph over 35 miles through the Midtown Greenway and Minneapolis streets. Open to all with a signed waiver.
The vibe
Fast miles, strong community
The Major Taylor Bicycling Club of Minnesota has been promoting diversity in the Twin Cities cycling scene since 1999, named after Major Taylor — the first Black world cycling champion in 1899. The Wednesday night ride is the club’s midweek staple: 35 miles through the Midtown Greenway and Minneapolis city streets at a steady 18–20 mph average.
This isn’t a beginner ride. The pace is genuine and sustained, and riders should come with fitness and group riding skills. But the culture is welcoming — the club exists specifically to broaden who shows up to fast group rides in Minneapolis, and that mission is visible in every outing.
Open to anyone. Helmets are required. Non-members sign a waiver before their first ride. Check the club website for current season schedule and any weather-related changes.
