Mellow Mondays
Slow, themed loop rides through Portland at 8 mph — about 10 miles, family-friendly, all wheels welcome. The antidote to competitive cycling culture.
The vibe
Slow, themed, no-pressure rolls
Eight miles per hour. If that sounds too slow to be a real ride, Mellow Mondays is not for you — and that’s completely intentional. This is a Monday evening loop designed for people who want to explore Portland by bike without any of the pace, performance, or competitive energy that sneaks into cycling culture even when nobody’s racing.
Rides are themed — meaning each week has a loose concept that shapes the route, the mood, or how people show up. About 10 miles, all wheels welcome (bikes, cargo bikes, scooters, kid trailers), and the organizers practice consent and non-violence as explicit group values. It meets at Abernethy Primary School in SE Portland at 7:30 PM.
If you’ve been hesitant to show up to a group ride because you don’t have the right bike or the right fitness, start here. Monday nights, slow pace, good people.
