Relaxed dirt, no ego
The name says it all — this 1,750-member South Bay group exists for riders who want singletrack without the intimidation factor. Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM, the group rolls out from Arastradero Preserve in Palo Alto at a pace built around conversation, not Strava segments.
Organizer Bob and a team of co-organizers occasionally add weekend rides further afield, including recent trips down to Henry Cowell in Santa Cruz. The mission is explicit: a positive, non-competitive environment for any experience level, from first-timers still getting comfortable on dirt to riders who just want a break from the ego of faster group rides.
