The vibe

Nebo Loop, Wasatch front showpiece

The Gran Fondo Utah centers on one of Utah’s great road climbs: the Nebo Loop, the same ascent used in the Tour of Utah. The 93-mile Gran route takes you through mountain passes and agricultural valleys along the Wasatch Front — a visual feast of red rock, orchard rows, and high-altitude views that makes the suffering feel worthwhile. The 63-mile Medio threads through Goshen Canyon and past Utah Lake for a slightly shorter but equally scenic experience. Gran riders start at 7:00 AM, Piccolo riders at 8:00 AM.

Timed segments, not overall finish time, determine placement — which means you can ride your own pace between the measured sections and still be in the hunt if you go hard where it counts. Aid stations and post-ride food and beer from event sponsors are included. Organizers also run a concurrent Adventure Day festival at the start/finish in Payson Memorial Park, making it a full day out rather than just a race.

Payson is about an hour south of Salt Lake City, putting it in easy reach of the Utah cycling community without the resort-town traffic of Park City. If you’ve ridden the Nebo Loop solo, this is a chance to do it with a full event production around it — timed, supported, and competitive.
