Multnomah County Bike Fair
Annual family-friendly Portland bike fair with slow races, bike jousting, live music, arts and crafts, and general community silliness. Part of Pedalpalooza since 2007.
The vibe
Silly family fun on bikes
The Multnomah County Bike Fair has been part of Portland’s Pedalpalooza since 2007, which tells you something about how well it fits the city’s cycling culture: chaotic, welcoming, and completely unserious in the best way. Slow races reward the person who can barely move without falling over. Bike jousting is exactly what it sounds like. There’s live music, arts and crafts, and the general feeling that someone handed the planning over to a bunch of people who genuinely love bikes and fun in equal measure.
It’s a family event through and through — kids on balance bikes, parents on cargo rigs, grandparents on three-speeds. No fitness test required, no kit needed. If you can show up on a bike and enjoy watching someone get gently knocked off their seat by a foam jousting lance, you’re qualified. Check Shift’s calendar as summer approaches for the confirmed date and location, which gets announced during Pedalpalooza season.
