The vibe

Half a century of centuries

The Pioneer Century has been rolling through the Willamette Valley since the Portland Bicycling Club was still calling itself the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club. Fifty-plus years in, it’s one of the most well-organized supported rides in the Pacific Northwest — fully marked routes, rest stops every 25 miles, and three distances so you can calibrate the day to your actual fitness rather than your aspirational fitness.

The 2026 edition goes June 13 out of Canby, heading into the rich farmland and timber country of Clackamas and Marion Counties. You’ll pass through Champoeg, Molalla, and the small towns that make up the historic pioneer settlement corridor — quiet roads, manageable elevation, and scenery that earns the name. Whether you’re riding the 33-mile half metric or the full 100, the route markings and sag support are solid enough that navigation anxiety isn’t part of the deal.

Registration opens through pbctickets.ticketspice.com; check portlandbicyclingclub.com/pioneer for the current year’s pricing and start times. RideWithGPS files and cue sheets are available for all three distances. If you’re new to the club or to supported centuries in Oregon, this is the one to start with.
