Ride Safe PDX
Weekly Thursday group ride from Colonel Summers Park built on consent and respect — 8-15 miles through Portland streets with store stops along the way.
The vibe
Safety first, always welcome
Every Thursday at 6:30 PM, cyclists roll out of Colonel Summers Park for one of Portland’s more intentional group rides. Ride Safe PDX was built around the idea that cycling communities should model the values they want to see in the city — respect, consent, and genuine inclusivity. The vibe is casual, the pace is manageable, and the route loops through Portland neighborhoods with store stops along the way.
The rides run 8–15 miles depending on the night, with a format designed so new riders feel comfortable from the first pedal stroke. There’s no test of fitness at the gate, no expectation that you show up knowing the unwritten rules. The ride leaders set the tone early and maintain it throughout. If you’ve ever felt like group rides weren’t for you, this one was made with that feeling in mind.
Post-ride the group typically hangs around the area for some informal socializing. Follow @RideSafePDX on Instagram for specific routes and any night-of updates. Show up a few minutes early, introduce yourself, and just ride.
