Queer Ride has been rolling through Austin since 2011, and the pitch hasn’t changed: the most fun, care-free, no-drop social ride for queer folks and allies that the city’s got. Riders gather at the south gates of the Texas State Capitol every Wednesday at 7 PM, with wheels down at 7:30 for a relaxed 10-15 mile loop through downtown.
Nobody’s racing anybody here. The pace stays conversational, the route stays flexible, and the whole point is spending an evening on bikes with people who get it. First-timers show up solo all the time and leave with a crew.
Bring a helmet, front and rear lights (it’s a night ride, after all), and a lock if you’re planning to post up somewhere after. Groups tend to peel off for food or drinks once the ride wraps.
