The vibe

Social dirt riding, no pressure

Riding Bikes in the Dirt is a private Denver mountain bike group built around a specific philosophy: serious about bikes, not hardcore about performance. The group is for cyclists 30 and up who want to explore Front Range trails together without the pressure of keeping up with fast riders or riding alone on unfamiliar singletrack. The vibe is social first, fitness second.

Rides cap at 15 people, with Jefferson County open space parks capped at 8 — the small size is intentional. It keeps the group together, makes it easier to help riders who need it, and turns every outing into an actual shared experience rather than a parade. Spring and summer bring Monday evening beginner rides (Levels 1–3); weekends alternate Saturday and Sunday at any skill level throughout the year. They ride in the snow.

Membership is private and capped at 300 people total, with a small annual fee (typically $1–$5, set each December). New members get a 90-day free trial. If you’re new to Denver trail riding or want a consistent social mountain bike crew without the competitive edge, this is worth tracking down on Meetup.
