The Rocky Mountain Cycling Club’s Challenge Series is the club’s crown jewel — a curated seasonal calendar of the best road rides under 100 miles in Colorado. Each event targets an iconic Front Range route: Lookout Mountain, Mt. Blue Sky, Trail Ridge Road, the Copper Triangle with Turquoise Lake, Guanella-Loveland-St. Mary’s, and the South Jeffco Climbing Blowout to close out the season in September.
These are unsupported rides — no sag wagons, no registration fees beyond club membership. You show up prepared, you ride the mountain, you find your own way home. The routes are challenging by design, aimed at experienced riders who want a reason to point their bikes at the high country on a Saturday morning.
RMCC membership is required. Rides are coordinated through Meetup and posted a few weeks in advance with route files on Ride with GPS. The series runs approximately monthly from May through September, tracking the season’s weather window and the opening of high-altitude roads.
