The vibe
Miles that test everything
This is randonneuring — self-supported long-distance cycling where the goal isn’t winning but finishing within the time limit. RMCC’s Colorado Brevet Series runs 33+ events in 2026, ranging from 100km Populaires (a reasonable entry point for curious riders) to the 1200km multi-day epics that define the outer edge of what cyclists do on road bikes.
The routes are genuinely varied: Poudre Canyon, St. Vrain, Big Thompson, Lefthand Canyon on the mountain side; routes to Kersey and Platteville across the plains; alpine traversals via Vail Pass. Each terrain type brings its own challenges and its own rewards. The standard start location is the Louisville Conoco at I-36 and McCaslin, though some events start elsewhere.
RMCC and RUSA membership are required. Entry fees apply per event. If you’ve never done a brevet before, start with a 100km or 200km to understand the format before committing to the longer distances. The Brevet Series is for riders who want something beyond the usual group ride — a personal challenge with a stopwatch.
