The vibe
Epic multi-day western slope odyssey
A 1200km randonneuring event is a different category of undertaking from any other ride you’ll do this year. The Colorado Fruita Loops 1200 is organized for people who have been building toward exactly this — an ultra-distance multi-day route across Colorado’s western slope, starting and finishing in Fruita with the full expanse of canyon country, high desert, and mountain terrain in between.
For those not quite ready for the full 1200, the event also offers 400km and 1000km options from the same start. The western slope setting makes for some of the most dramatic riding in the state: red rock formations, river canyons, agricultural valleys, and the high passes that connect them. Fruita itself is well positioned as a base, with good roads in every direction.
Free to enter in 2026. RMCC and RUSA membership required. The logistics of a multi-day brevet — sleep strategy, drop bags, weather contingencies — require serious advance planning. This is not an event to show up to underprepared. Check rmccrides.com for the full route information, control locations, and time limits.
