The vibe

Pick your canyon sufferfest distance

Randonneuring is cycling with the pretense of racing removed — what remains is distance, self-sufficiency, and the satisfaction of finishing something genuinely hard. RMCC’s Poudre Canyon Brevet offers three distances from the same start: 300km for the ambitious, 400km for the committed, and 600km for people who have made different choices about sleep. All routes head through Horsetooth and Poudre Canyon, with the longer options continuing north through Wellington and Kersey before looping back.

Sign-in is at 3:00 AM, rollout at 4:00 AM from the Louisville Conoco — which tells you everything you need to know about the spirit of the event. The predawn start is standard in randonneuring, letting riders cover the exposed or hotter sections before afternoon temperatures build. Poudre Canyon is spectacular once the sun comes up, which on a 300km gives you plenty of time to appreciate it.

Free to enter in 2026 (RUSA eliminated event fees). RMCC and RUSA membership required. Bring lights rated for 8+ hours, food for the long haul, and the mental toolkit for riding through the night on the longer distances. Check rmccrides.com for full brevet details, controls, and cutoff times.
