The vibe

Summit twice, suffer proud

Vail Pass is a climb most cyclists do once. This brevet does it twice. The Vail Pass Volley starts at Frisco Exit 201, climbs the pass (10,674 feet) to Vail, continues to Gypsum, and then reverses the whole thing for the return. At 200km total, it’s a full day of mountain riding in some of Colorado’s most dramatic terrain.

The format is RUSA-sanctioned randonneuring — self-supported, within the time limit, with controls along the route to verify completion. There’s no support crew and no SAG wagon. You carry what you need and manage your own energy across a long day in the mountains.

RMCC and RUSA membership required. Entry fees apply. This is a serious undertaking — come with the fitness, nutrition, and gear for an extended alpine effort. Start time details are posted on the RMCC brevet schedule closer to the event date.
