The vibe
Island hopping by bike
Four days, 124 miles, 7,550 feet of climbing, and some of the most striking scenery the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The San Juan Islands Tour runs August 4-7, 2026, organized by Cascade Bicycle Club, and it’s the kind of trip that turns a long weekend into something you’ll talk about for years.
The route takes riders through the San Juan archipelago — which means ferry crossings, island-to-island transitions, and the particular experience of cycling through a landscape that most people only see from the water. The daily stages cover 30-40 miles on average, keeping the mileage manageable while the cumulative elevation keeps things honest.
This is a trip for riders who’ve been putting in the miles and want to use them for something. Full Cascade support (SAG, logistics, route markings) handles the mechanics, so you can focus on the riding and the views. Accommodation and ferry logistics are part of the event package. Registration through cascade.org.
