SBT GRVL — Green Course
SBT GRVL's beginner and e-bike friendly 25-mile route at 7,000+ ft elevation through Steamboat's scenic backcountry with long views and manageable climbing.
The vibe
Steamboat magic without the suffer-fest
The Green Course is SBT GRVL’s wide-open door — 25 miles at 7,000+ feet, explicitly welcoming e-bikes, and designed to give everyone access to Steamboat’s mountain backcountry without requiring a century-level fitness base. At 1,822 feet of climbing over the distance, the Green emphasizes the scenic climbing experience over raw output, meaning you spend most of your time looking at the mountains rather than staring at your stem.
E-bikes are fully welcome on the Green Course, which makes it genuinely accessible for riders of different ability levels and those still building their gravel legs. The 8:30 AM start is the latest of the morning waves — the day is warm, the other distance groups are already deep into their routes, and the start area atmosphere is relaxed and celebratory.
For families or mixed-ability groups coming to SBT GRVL together, the Green Course means everyone can participate in the same event weekend regardless of fitness level. The finish-line celebration is shared by all distance groups, so Green riders are part of the same party. Register through sbtgrvl.com — the Green often has availability even when longer distances sell out.
