The vibe
Steady spin through the north burbs
Jack’s Tuesday Fitness Loop takes you through a stretch of Seattle’s north side that doesn’t get much cycling attention — Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway, and Edmonds, with Olympic View Drive adding some elevation interest. At 12-14 mph on level ground, the pace is accessible without being casual. The group emphasizes staying together on climbs and descents, which makes it a genuinely social ride rather than a race.
Twenty-three miles and 1,240 feet of gain — enough to feel like a workout by lunchtime. The Spruce Neighborhood Park start in Lynnwood is straightforward to reach from the north end of Seattle or Snohomish County, making this a viable option for riders who live well north of the city and don’t want to commute into Seattle for a weekday ride.
Cascade Bicycle Club organizes and hosts this one. Free group ride; advance registration required through cascade.org. Helmets required. The Cascade network of group rides is one of the best-organized in the country — this ride benefits from that infrastructure.
