The vibe
Seven hills, social grind
The 7 Hills of Kirkland is a local cycling classic — a course that strings together Market Hill, Juanita Hill, Seminary Hill, and Rose Hill into a workout that tests your climbing legs without requiring a trip into the mountains. Cascade Bicycle Club’s Wednesday Midweek Tune-Up uses the course at a social moderate pace (around 15 mph), which means the climbing gets done without anyone getting dropped.
Thirty-eight miles and 2,633 feet of gain makes this a real workout for a midweek ride. The South Kirkland Park and Ride starting point is convenient for east-side riders and reachable from the city. The route mixes climbs with flatter stretches on the Burke Gilman Trail and Redmond Connector, giving your legs some recovery between hills.
Cascade Bicycle Club group ride — free, advance registration required at cascade.org. Helmets required. The Wednesday timing is designed for riders who can make a midweek morning work; the 10 AM start suits people with flexible schedules rather than pre-work fitness ambitions.
