The vibe
After-work Seattle neighborhood loop
After work on a Monday, there are worse ways to decompress than rolling through the U District, looping around Lake Union, climbing through Queen Anne, and finishing via the Ballard Locks. MORE — Monday Outdoor Rides in the Evening — strings together some of Seattle’s best urban cycling terrain in a 20–24 mile loop that feels like a tour of the city rather than a workout. Two pace options (Steady and Moderate) keep the group manageable and the ride social.
Expect 1,100–1,700 ft of elevation depending on route variation — Queen Anne is Queen Anne, after all. The evening departure at 5:50 PM makes this a genuine after-work option without requiring you to leave the office at noon. Most folks are commuter-casual in kit, so don’t stress about showing up in full race gear.
This is a free Cascade Bicycle Club ride, open to the public. Advance registration is required and fills up in warm weather — the Monday evening slot is popular. Check cascade.org for current registration windows.
