MUMPS — Monday Urban Merry Pedalers
Cascade Bicycle Club's flagship Monday morning group ride from Kenmore. Three pace options covering 48 miles around Lake Washington.
The vibe
Monday miles, three speeds
Lake Washington on your left for 48 miles — that’s the core of MUMPS, the Monday Urban Merry Pedalers loop that Cascade Bicycle Club has been running as its flagship weekday ride. Three pace groups leave Kenmore together at 10am: Brisk (16–18 mph), Moderate (13–16 mph), and Steady (10–13 mph). Whatever shape you’re in on a Monday morning, there’s a group for you. Total elevation is around 1,700 ft, which keeps things honest without turning into a suffer-fest.
If you’re new to Cascade group rides, MUMPS is one of the better entry points. The three-group structure means you don’t have to pretend you’re faster than you are, and the Lake Washington route is well-known enough that navigation stress is minimal. Show up in kit, bring two water bottles, and plan for roughly 3–4 hours on the bike depending on your pace group.
Registration is required through Cascade’s website — spots fill up, especially in summer, so don’t wait until Sunday night. This is a free ride for Cascade members and the public alike.
