Mid-Peninsula Bicycling Group
Private group for experienced Peninsula road and gravel cyclists averaging 11–13 mph over 40+ miles. Focused on etiquette and consistent group riding — not a racing scene.
The vibe
Serious riders, no racing egos
The Mid-Peninsula Bicycling Group is selective in a specific way: they’re looking for experienced cyclists who ride with good form, not cyclists who are fast. There’s an important distinction. The group averages 11–13 mph on rides that run 40+ miles — substantial but not race-pace — and puts a premium on consistent group riding skills: maintaining spacing, following routes, showing up on time, and not dropping people without warning.
Peninsula roads reward riders who know them. This group does tours of the Stanford dish loop, Skyline Boulevard, Canada Road, and the backroads of the Santa Cruz Mountain foothills. The riding quality is high; the social culture is one where experience is assumed rather than explained at every turn.
New members go through a vetting ride before being fully integrated. Real name and real photo required on your Meetup profile. Guests of existing members are welcome for trial rides. If you’re an experienced road or gravel cyclist looking for a consistent Peninsula riding community that takes group dynamics seriously, this is worth reaching out to.
