Northern California has some of the best bicycle touring terrain in the country — coastal highways, redwood forests, the Sierra Nevada, and the high desert of the Oregon border region. Norcal Bicycle Touring organizes access to all of it, with events ranging from single-day rides to multi-week loaded tours across the region and beyond.
The group exchanges the knowledge that makes touring work: route planning, gear selection, navigation, and the kind of logistics experience that only accumulates through having done trips before. For someone who wants to do their first loaded tour but doesn’t know where to start, riding with people who’ve done it removes the uncertainty that often prevents people from attempting it.
Upcoming events in the 2026 calendar include a 9-day Oregon Outback bikepacking tour (approximately 400 miles, 70% unpaved) and a Klamath Falls to Eugene via Crater Lake tour in late July.
