Roasters Ride — GGB South
Fast, storied Saturday group ride from the Golden Gate Bridge south lot that has run for 25 years. Not for the faint-hearted — fast pace, no waiting for dropped riders.
The vibe
25 years of fast Saturday pain
The Roasters Ride has been rolling out of the Golden Gate Bridge south lot every Saturday morning for 25 years. That kind of longevity tells you something: this ride has a culture, a pace, and an expectation that you show up ready to work. The group hammers north into Marin, and if you get dropped, there’s no sweep van coming. It’s hammerfest rules — keep up or find your own way home.
The field is serious. You’ll see Cat 3s mixing with masters racers and strong club riders who’ve been doing this for years. The pace goes hard early and doesn’t let up on the Marin climbs. If you’ve been building fitness and want to test it against riders who won’t give you an inch, this is the place to do it on a Saturday morning.
Come prepared: full kit, good legs, and no illusions about the pace. This isn’t the ride to try out your new bike for the first time. Regulars know each other well; introduce yourself beforehand, and you’ll be welcomed — as long as you can hold the wheel.
