Scotty's Ride — Point Reyes Loop
Social-paced Saturday loop from the Golden Gate Bridge through Marin to Bovine Bakery in Point Reyes Station. The scenic alternative to the fast crowd at the bridge.
The vibe
Marin loop with a pastry payoff
While the fast crowd hammers out of the GGB south lot at 8:00, Scotty’s Ride assembles at the South Pavilion half an hour later for a completely different kind of Saturday. The destination is Point Reyes Station and the Bovine Bakery — one of the best cycling objectives in the Bay Area — reached by riding the rolling Marin roads through Fairfax and Samuel P. Taylor State Park. The pace is social, meaning you’ll actually have a conversation on the way out.
The route is legitimately scenic. You cross the bridge, wind through Sausalito and Mill Valley, and eventually settle into the long stretch of Sir Francis Drake Boulevard as it follows the creek toward the coast. There’s climbing, but nobody is racing over it. The Bovine Bakery stop at the end earns its reputation: morning pastries at a picnic table in West Marin is one of the better ways to spend a Saturday.
This is the ride to bring a friend who’s been curious about the GGB group ride scene but isn’t ready for the hammerfest version. Social pace means just that — nobody is getting left behind.
